About:

Neelie Wicks writes for children from pre-school to young adult.  She is the author, most recently, of The Crumbs Go Canyoning the second story in the Charlie Crumb series for middle grade readers. This follows the success of her picture book series, Miss Pickle a Dizzy Witch and Billy Beans Wants to Fly a picture book for the very young.

Born in the North East of England Neelie is back in the North East of England, and inspite of several forays south and west, is more than happy about it.

Working life for Neelie started according to the plans of the grown-ups.  So instead of studying sciences to enter the world of nursing she learned to type instead and became a ‘supernumerary’ (definition; spare part!) at Darlington Town Hall.  All things considered and somewhat unexpectedly she did well enough, taking early retirement from higher education to enjoy the freedom of becoming a self employed writer and loyal champion of writers and authors of all genre.  In 2016 Neelie established Skelwicks Arts which is a small publishing entity open to authors and illustrators who want to be part of a community of like-minded people with the aim of publishing their work.

Neelie is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, The Alliance of Independent Authors and Promoting Yorkshire Authors.
